The Punjab government's budget is lacking in trustworthiness and transparency: Manpreet Badal
Chandigarh, March 10 :
State President of the Punjab BJP Ashwani Sharma stated during a news conference conducted at the BJP office in Chandigarh that the budget presented by the Punjab government is disturbing to everyone. He claimed that the Punjab government had cheated farmers, labourers, women, traders, and all Punjabis in this budget, and that the Aam Aadmi Party government has run away from its promises. He said that in this budget, the government neither announced the loan waiver of farmers nor any assistance of Rs 1,000 per month to women.
Speaking on this occasion, former Finance Minister Punjab Manpreet Badal said that if anything is clear from the budget presented by the Punjab government today, it is the complete lack of credibility and transparency. We are all aware that this year's revenue growth has been unprecedented for the nation; the revised projections for central taxes are about 3 lakh crore or 10% higher than the budget estimates Punjab's taxes are far from rising. This indicates that either the budget estimates were out of reach or the state has failed to put its act together. Looking at the trends of the Punjab Government's collections so far, I have reason to believe that the figures shown in the Revised Estimates of the Punjab Budget are not likely to be achieved in any case.
Subhash Sharma, the state vice president of the BJP, said that the government has not prioritise the education sector in this budget of Punjab when speaking on this occasion. He claimed that everyone will be disappointed by this budget. BJP MLA Jangi Lal Mahajan and Punjab BJP State Media Joint Secretary Hardev Singh ubha were also present.
